Talked to the farmer on Friday - He said RES now only plan to put one Turbine on the Bryncaws side and was hopeful that we could continue flying there - RES seem to be keen to improve their public image as most of the farms they propose have huge opposition - maybe we could speak to them and get an assurance that we can continue once it is built?

Steve and me went to the windfarm exhibition at Cilfrew on thursday evening.  I regret to report that if the application for the windfarm goes ahead then flying at Bryncaws/Lletty Siac will almost certainly come to an end.  The proposed sitings of the eleven  400ft high turbines planned are uncomfortably close to where we fly.  Talking to the developers: If the planning is approved then construction will probably commence sometime next year.

The turbines will not be close to any houses and the access road will be on the west side.  I think the only grounds for objection will be visual and with the evergrowing concern about climate change and carbon emmisions, visual concerns could be put aside.

For us, it could spell the end of an era.  I recommend all pilots to fly there this year as much as possible as 2007 could well be the last year of flying at Bryncaws/Lletty Siac.   :-(

Most of you are by now aware of the current planning application for a wind farm at our Bryncaws site; one of many which seem to be proposed for our beautiful countryside. To bring you all up-to-speed on events, Nick has just informed me of 2 exhibitions re. Bryncaws organised by the developers at local community centres. The locations and opening times for the exhibitions are:
Rhos Community Centre, Wed. 17th January 07. 12:00hrs - 20:00hrs
Cilfrew Community Centre, Thurs.18th January 07.12:00hrs-20:00hrs

Nick and myself will be visiting the Cilfrew exhibition at around
6:30pm on Thursday 18th January.

Anybody else fancy coming along?
Sounds like a good excuse for a drink and a chat afterwards.

Ps. I have no idea as to the exact locations of the 2 Community Centres.

On the theme of windfarms, Nick has brought to my attention proposals in the Dare Valley. This would seriously hinder the 'Aberdare milk run' from our Seven Sisters site; recently described in a 'Hot Air' article by Chris D. For further info go to the Dare Valley wind farm opposition website, aptly name  www.dontyoudare.co.uk
