tues 5 June

Heol Senni, too strong between 12 and 2, launched thereafter, went over back with SP,  bombed at Craig-y-nos, everyone else (4) on the hill flew to Penclawdd/Crofty area, a humbling experience. Drove quite a bit thereafter.Well done to the flying fireman for a new PB.

Here endth proof that not only the good flights get reported.

Monday, 21st May,

Couldn't resist going to Heol Senni even though forecast only so,so. Bit off to E at times and 'choppy'. High cloud cut of most thermic activity until about 3.30pm when conditions improved. Along with SP and DB got to around 4,300 - 4,400 ft asl and ended up going Xc (almost reluctantly given down-wind sky (v. grey)). Landed at Caerbont for 15k.

Went to Fan G with Nick (who forgot his vario), SJ,IJ,GD,&JP. Little wind mainly but a couple of opportunities to get high. As little drift tried to do a triangle (ambitious me!). Helped by 10 mins in a cloud just south of Pen y Fan, got to 6300 ft asl. Failed to close a 33k triangle by 5k damm (quite a bit I know). Rain spoiled play. Some day I'll actually complete one of these triangles !!, Steve P makes it look so easy. Still scored 33.8k as a turnpoint flight and spent a lot of time high (always a good idea).

21.4.07 , first xc of the season, allbeit only 13k straight line. Flew at Cwmafan with Steve Jones. Max asl  was 2,500 feet so a bit of a dribble, still nice to get crossing terrain again. Crime scene we were thermalling over seems to realte to a suspected murder per BBC news! WJ is getting excited about Wednesday.

19.4.07, after much indecision went to Merthyr with SJ and WK, too windy, went to Foch Rhiw which was on  but not very lifty and went off to N too much. Nick arrived after having looked at 7 sisters (too W'ly). As the wind dropped we viewed convergence line setting up between what looked like 7 sisters and Newport, hmmm. Xc weather suggests late afternoon winds were strong Wly at Swansea but N/NW further inland. All in all a frustrating day.
