The club has been informed about some temporary Airspace Restrictions during the RAC Wales Rally which will take place in the area from Nov 30 to 02 Dec 2007. Due to the amount of helicopter activity during the rally, restricted airspace will be established from sunrise to sunset at the following locations : -
Fri Nov 30 - sunday 02 Dec Swansea Service Area N51 37.1 W003 55.2 radius 1.5nm
Nov 30th Port Talbot, Resolven and Rheola N51 40.6 W003 41.5 radius 6nm
Dec 01 Crychan, Eppynt & Halfway N52 02.0 W003 35.5 radius 5nm
Dec 02 Brechfa & Trawscoed N51 58.7 W004 08.7 radius 4.5nm
Crosscountry flying in Wales at this time of year is unlikely(powered craft excepted). However, the restriction at Resolven on Nov 30th will encompass Bryncaws/Lletty Siac, Seven Sisters, Cwmafan and the Rhigos - so no flying at those sites on that day!
Pilots flying at sites elswhere in the SWW area on the 30th or anywhere on Dec 1st/2nd are advised to keep a good lookout!
