Hang gliding trip to Slovenia, 04 - 12 or 15th March 2009

Just to let you know I would be interested in something like this in the future but not this spring I'm afraid (my wife id due to give birth on the 30th Jan)

The ideas of an specifically hang gliding group was originally proposed by xTc, to maximise the flying opportunities.  For various reasons PGs and HGs can sometimes use different TOs and LZs, and do not necessarily synchronise well when trying to retrieve everybody and get another flight in.  (De-rigging a hang glider can seem a tortuous process for the PG pilot waiting to go back to the top).  The SW Slovenia sites of Lijak and Kvok aren't too bad in this respect - but would still require each group to compromise a bit for the other and possibly not get quite as many individual flights in.  (Bohinj would be a nonstarter - great for PGs but with no TOs easily accessible for HGs).

However, if push comes to shove and there really isn't enough HG interest for an exclusive trip, xTc have already suggested that accommodation could be made on the subsequent week for a 2-3 hangies.

I am drawing the attention of any PGs who enquire to the xTc PG trips.

I've been trying to get this hangie trip organised for some time now, but for various reasons we currently only have a group of two.  xTc require a minimum of four to make it worth their while.

The exchange rate with the Euro has obviously made all holidays in Europe a lot more expensive recently, so xTc have responded with a PRICE CUT from 595 to 495 Euros, or 475 Euros if we get a group of six or more.  http://www.xtc-paragliding.com/offer2009.html

Unless we are able to commit to a group of at least four very soon, we risk loosing the dates xTc are holding and our accommodation at the splendid Sabotin hotel (not to mention all the cheap flight deals).

To keep the Sabotin, xTc have had to make the breakfast option mandatory, for an additional 50 Euros for the week.  In reality this is no great problem as we've all got to eat and by all accounts the breakfast offerings are varied and sumptuous.

This may be your LAST CHANCE for some SERIOUS FLYING and EARLY SPRING THERMALLING.  Or you could wait for awesome conditions to hit the UK for about 2 days mid-week some time next June.

I will transport up to six hang gliders on my car - just chip in on the fuel and ferry.

This is southern Slovenia, slap bang on the Italian boarder, beautiful countryside with famous early spring conditions.  Check on the web.  xTc only need a £150 deposit and also offer special rates for non-flying partners.
