28/6/09...Berga/Spain...30c+... Berga is a good place to start our Spanish trip...easy site's... suitable for all levels....my 3rd year there, it was unusual flying weather... no wind, but hot... dont really do ttb's... a slight thermal starts which gives a chance to stay up... its weak thermals...we are early in the morning, we float around gently for 20mins then it pics up in seconds... we know straight away we have to land...all down safe, that was it for that day...we flew at the right place...instability and storms close by.... go for swim in lake... tappas and cervasa

21/6/09...Rhossili.NW-W 12-15-18mph. 18c... got to Rhossili, on the hill 8am... Norris and Declan were alraedy there...it was weak... so tecnical scratchin was to be done...I manage 20mins but Norris and Scotty do 45mins+... we all land and wait for it to come on to the hill as it was a tad North...Norris gets in the air again and starts to get good hieght and its on the hill...game on...we all get up there too, then all of a sudden a good handfull of pilots appear as if by magic... it was a real good crowd today...lots of people practicing their stuff a couple of hrs..learning and pushing...all very friendly...a good day... it got a bit strong late in the afternoon...I got well tired trying manouvres... acheing all over... give up after 2.23hrs of flying... gotta get fitter.. could get bout 1150ft asl...dahm, back to work tomorrow... might try cliffs after work..

Hi Stevie, Just had an email from a David Merchant praising your flying skills and saying how much he enjoyed his tandem flights with you recently. He needs your email address to send you the pictures he took.
Have a good one abroad - I've just come back from a Bulgarian flying holiday-superb flying conditions!
gareth, Neath

15/6/09...Rhossili.W 12-15mph. 23c...went for an evening flight... saw Paul H allready in the air, he lands, we chat, get ready and we're both off...the hill to ourselves and ??... its nice and smooth with tight gentle thermals cycling thru... half hour later Nick and Viv arrive... they quickly set up and join us... Nick does his thing and find his spot where his lift is and is happy... Viv does hers, finds some lift, does a few beats...goes and lands.lol..? Paul and I land and Pack, leaving it all to Nick, we finish packing then Nick comes into land... big happy grin.. we help him pack then go for beers... I flew bout 1.12hrs got bout 900ft asl... last flight for a while for me till I got to the Pyrenees on 26th... Berga, Organya and Ager, O YEAH

14/6/09...Rhossili. SW-W 12-15mph. 22c... Have been too busy to fly...have missed some good flyin..but, got to Rhossili with Sotty and met up with a few others, it kicked in mid afternoon... very SW...very snotty, I had tandems to do...took up my 1st passanger, it was ok but it was scratchy, snotty, bit lifty, bit sinky...it was a low sea breeze, higher too S, landed after 20 mins to wait for it to come round W and to smooth out....after a short wait it did...so back in the air with Dave, hoping to get a few good pics...there arnt many pilots around, most of them inland... I do an other 2 flights the air is nice to fly, we get around 900ft asl, but it all suddenly shuts off... I end up on the beach... hate that walk back up, socialise with the other pilots and that pint goes down well... 1.20hrs in the air and thanks to Scotty and Gerry for helping with the tandems

31/5/09... Abernant. NE. 12-18mph.25c... went to Heol Senny... saw the motly tribe... scratchin there heads and pacing around they decideto go to t/o and wait it out, it was a tad strong... Gerry and me hang around a while at landing area but decide to have a look at Abernant... just to check it, we could always return.....we checked out take of and were happy with the conditions...12-17mph... big thermals we gues cycling thru... we both get in the air no problem, head out over quarry thingy and get hoofed up over 900ft ato, 5mps up..land after 20mins to phone the boys, tell them its on...half hour later the gang arrives coz its gettin windier at Senny... Gerry an me fly some more, gettin more than a grand ato, huge thermals still cycling thru... the boys manage to catch some peachy thermals and the flock go xc, ending round Carmarthen somewhere, a 25-30k flight...good show, nice to see....I got bout 1.20hrs today...pack up happy, go for quick beer...tidy

24/5/09... Rhossili.WNW. 7-13mph.24c... light and variable inland so opted for Rhossili again thinking we'd have a good sea breeze day... loads of pilots already there...sitting...waiting....eventually it came onto the hill, but weak...better thermals than yesterday coming thru... not easy for low airtimers... again only managing bout 800ft asl...5 people hill landing in gauze bushes, airlaw seemed to be out the window today...got about 35mins playing time...gave up and went for more beer

23/5/09... Rhossili. W. 14mph. 22c... went to Rhossili 12ish expecting it not to be working till later, but by 1pm we started to fly, it was a strange day with small snotty thermals kicking thru with not much hieght... dont think anyone got more than about 900ft asl... after 1.50hrs decided to land and pack...there's only so much back and forth one can handle, not gaining hieght for manouvres.... a good social down the head and ready for the next day
