Not sure what people want from meetings, just a social or talks? (Steve W has indicated his preference)

I'd be happy to talk about Radios at the next one - if there is intrest

The distance issue wouldn't be too much problem if the meeting was worth attending - I haven't been to a meeting so I do not know what is discussed and the structure of it but if perhaps a talk on a subject was attached to the meeting, ie XC thermalling, usage of radios, sea breezes etc then I would be more enticed to attend. (Please excuse my ignorance if you already do this!) I am not knocking the current meeting by any means just trying to make a point from someone that lives the other side of Fan G.

Perhaps if a meeting agenda was published on the website, (I can create an area for club meetings) the people can see what is going to be discussed. I do like the idea of talks although with my lack of experience I would be looking at others to provide this :) :)

I like Nasher's idea of alternating venues due to the geographical spread. Somewhere further west (e.g. Carmarthen) would be much easier for me.

Trying to keep a balanced argument though, would it then be more likely that members only turn up to their nearest meeting? Or could the incentive of a closer meeting create the interest to travel further afield for the other meetings?

I'm more likely to attend if it's closer, Pen Y Cae is about 20 miles from Brecon I think. :)

Yup I agree I think a new venue for our meetings is a great idea......get it sorted StevieG (Pontardawe is good for me) and reply to this thread ASAP with details. It'll be a whole new beginning for the club, I'm really looking forward to being able to chair my first club meeting for 3 months due to holidays and personal projects.I do hope that my presence doesn't reduce the number that attend.Cancel all your other appointments to make sure you're there for SWWSC monthly meeting at it's new venue, to discuss all of your flying issues and concerns.

Sounds good to me - shall I speak to the social secretary or will you (You do of course know talking to yourself is the first sign of madness - I'm at stage 4!)

I suggest that we meet in Pontardawe as I live here!

But, less selfishlyand given our clubs large geographical area, how about 3 alternating venues? (someting like Brecon/Swansea/Carmarthen)

Apologies to Gron for not showing up at the Castle last night. A lot of us were flying down at Rhossili so we held an impromptu meeting in the pub afterwards.

Regarding the monthly meetings at the Castle Inn, the consensus seems to be that it is time for a change of venue so any suggestions from people would be very welcome.  Watch this space.......
