Hi Gon,

Why not? There's nothing to damage inside!

Are you in Ponty soon - I may need my old harness...

Thanks, Steve!  Our "flexible friend"!  (I see that this now makes more room for recent gallery uploads down the left hand side! - or is that pushing my luck?)

And................................Nasher  ---- Stop banging your head against that wall, it's not good for you!    Gron.

It's an excellent website, Steve and it's quite obvious that a heck of a lot of people "drop-in" from time to time (and at all hours of the day & night!).  It has well & truly replaced "Hot Air" as our official organ, and the amazing thing about it is it's immediacy.
The traffic varies in how busy it gets, and perhaps it's unfortunate that some posts drop out of the 10 on the front page quite quickly during the busy times.   ??Room for more than 10 "last posts" on the home page??
In a way - the web site make us rather lazy, in that we may fire something off quite quickly, and not put the effort in to more of an article now and again.  I always enjoyed Nick R's well considered words in Hot Air articles when describing some of his classic  flights, such as that amazing one from Bryn Caws and over the Severn Bridge to Somerset!!
Basically, the mechanics of the site is great, but we as members could make it even better.  (If only we had some more flying to talk about! - I went to a fly-in in Llanrhystud near Aberystwyth yesterday, but failed to get off the ground in a 20mph wind - still  - some useful ground handling)
Now, I'm going to be a boring old fart, and appeal to everyone to improve their awful spelling on this web site!  Gron.

Thanks all for the feeback :) I have made a small tweak with the adverts on the frontpage which was causing a scrollbar on smaller screens.

It's handy to have site guides here. Would it be possible to have these linked to google maps like the SEWHGPGC?
Rhun

I can sort this Rhun, very good suggestion.

What I would really like to see is the use of twitter. The service could be manipulated. People at flying sites could text a short weather report to the web site for free.
A module on the homepage would be present showing an RSS feed of the last ten tweets. This could be a  handy free way of communicating what's working or not during the day?

Apparently a text service was tried but became expensive?

I've been experimenting some from web and mobile here...

Rhun

Twitter is an excellent suggestion. I'll look into it as well Rhun. If we could put that on the frontpage it would be an instant hit! Most newer phones these days are geared towards social networking tools so it should prove popular. - Thankyou for the suggestions.

Nasher,

Looks like things are becoming free to receive for some mobile customers...

http://blog.twitter.com/2009/07/twitter-over-sms-with-02-in-uk.html

Here are some free sim cards for the above operators...

Also, I've tried to view twitter over WAP on an old phone and it worked ok. I pay 30p for the privilege of a days worth of web use. That is, only on days i use it.

How about it? Free texting for members to twitter, a feed on the website to view member weather observations or reports,  possibility of free messages or tweets from twitter to your mobile, access to the content through WAP or 3G.

It will only work if/when people use it. It might be a slow start up, but once rolling and people see the weather reports it should attract attention.

This is keeping me busy on unflyable days like this anyway!

Steve,

The website is brilliant - no changes required

Rhun,

I looked at Twitter post 3jam, but at the time you could not receive text messages in the UK from Twitter. So people would need internet access on the hill/in the car.

I am looking at an anwerphone option - but there are risks!

I think that the high standard set by this website is solidly indicated by the amount of use that it gets, it has loads of stuff that is of interest and queries always get a fast response. Big Respect..

It's a cracking website. I've never come across a shoutbox before and it's very helpful. The pilot diaries are very informative and I've promised SteveJ to start my own one soon (post red ribbon?)

I've only recently discovered the weather links on the site in the drop down menu and also links to other paragliding sites.

It's handy to have site guides here. Would it be possible to have these linked to google maps like the SEWHGPGC?

Hi all,

I would appreciate any feedback or comments on the following:

1) Frontpage - what would you like to see or taken off frontpage
2) Design - Does the site look good on your screen? depending on screen resolution etc
3) Content - Would you like to see other content etc?
4) Menu - do you like the menu system or find it complicated?

I welcome any feedback whether positive or negative. Obviously I may not be able to accomodate everyones needs with the website.

Much appreciated
