The club committee met on monday September 8th. The full committee of Andy Hutchins, Steve Jones, Nick Roberts, Steve Watkins, Chris Dusgate, Stevie Gyomrey, and Steve Parsons were present. The meeting commenced at 20:15 and finished at 23:40. Items on the agenda were :-
1 - The Club Constitution - Nick had received a proposal from John Nash to update the Club Constitution and present it to the committee for approval before the next AGM. The proposal was seconded by Nick and approved unanimously.
2 - Chris reported that the club savings account was earning no interest in the current economic climate and that perhaps the club should look at spending some of the funds. Stevie suggested upgrading the Club Tandem Glider and the committee agreed subject to there being a bit more demand for usage of the tandem. Steve Watkins suggested spending a bit on Talks and Lectures through the winter and this was welcomed by all and to be looked into.
3 - The Club Website - In response to feedback from the membership, Steve Watkins proposed updating pilot profiles to include proper names that can be identified and that use of the shoutbox should be for paid-up members only. Also, that guest postings on the website should be placed in a separate "Guest Area". The proposals were discussed at great length and the the motion was approved after being seconded by chris.
4 - Complaints and disagreements - The committee discussed whether or not the club should have a formal code of conduct and after much discussion, it was agreed that there was enough enshrined in the Club Constitution and the BHPA to promote safe and responsible practices and that club members ought to be able to sort out any disputes between themselves.
5 - Flying Sites - The site agreements at Rhossili and Seven Sisters were discussed at length and Steve Jones agreed to liase with the N.T. to try to update some of the wording in the Rhossili agreement and to see if the visitor payment system can be improved.
Steve reported that nailing down an agreement for access to the Seven Sisters launch was proving to be difficult as due to opencast mining and forestry,the landscape is constantly changing together with the access routes and he is having to try and deal with three or four different parties.
The meeting was concluded at 23:40
