Epic sky, epic flying to be had. Not by me 'cause I just couldn't be arsed. Had a blast on me Ibex when it got a bit strong though.

Had a fun day today! Had a little thermic flight in the morning then it got blown out. After watching the hangies I got me Ibex out and had a barking mad 15 mins of very active flying! Had to take off in the field behind takeoff and be pushed through the gate to takeoff..... It then calmed down enough for a boat about on me Tyccon before getting strong again for a vertical landing halfway to the cars. Whizzo fun! :)

No vid 'cause me camera is being looked at............... But here's a picture someone took! well it's attached as I can't find a way to display it in the message..... Hanging out with the hangies :)

The Talybont Vid is your best yet Reech. I got to 3,800' and was probably at the inversion. Looks very like you may have got through the inversion there, I know a few people did.
It's just stunning scenery isn't it . I have been trying for a long while to get the right conditions to fly high above the Beacons and saturday was just superb.
All credit for keeping the camera steady in what must have been a powerful thermal.
Nice work !  Jeremy

2010-04-10 Pandy

Quite a day really. Got there about 11.30am. Loads of people there for a BCC round. Very light. Most trekked up to the top takeoff some people used the lower takeoff and managed to get up. I didn't and had a bit of a trek up through the bracken........... Anyway, loads of people flying and quite a few getting away. For reasons unknown to me I was flying like an ass and could barely stay up! After a bit of of that I kind of gave up and decided a munch and a snooze in the sun was in order watching people scratching about.

Hmmmmm..... Got to about 3.30pm and with things appearing to drop off I thought 'Bugger this one more go and if I end up in the bottom landing so be it, that's where the car is anyway'. So I took off and joined the gaggle of gliders. Somehow the Brain seemed to be working a bit better and I got a nice steady climb to 3,600' ATO and poked me head above the rather nasty brown inversion. Feeling much better I decided to wander over Abergavenny way via some nasty 4-5m/s sink and a couple of nice 1-2m/s thermals. All very pleasant. Floated about over The Blorenge for a bit, toplanded in perfect  soaring conditions. I may as well carry on so launched, floated about some more in really bouyant air until I thought I better land in Castle Meadows for a beer and phone Ron who was still at Pandy to tell him where I'd disappeared to. Lovely views and not a single frame of video shot. Told you the brain wasn't switched on.  :o

Nice one Reech! :)

The ones that didn't open, were they incorrectly packed or was it just technique and in a real need falling from height they would of worked?

Grown up paragliders had a good time in the morning. I rocked up in the afternoon and floated about on my Ibex15. Had the whole place to myself and one hangglider. flew about, landed on the beach packed up. Two others took off as i drove away. Wunnerful.
