Hi Jon,
I picked up an A4 info sheet re. the particulars the other day. Nick R. currently has it.
If you contact Nick he could e-mail you a copy.
Couldn't find your e-mail address to PM you.
Best wishes,
Steve J

Have been recontacted by RAF St. Athan who told me to ignore the local number and to only use the Mil Free phone no. 0800-515544.
My inquiry this morning seems to have caused quite a stir within RAF circles, but I guess it highlights the fact that PG does take place in S.Wales.

Contacted RAF St. Athan re the airspace issue, who confirmed that the poster in circulation was just to re-interate the fact that the area high-lighted was used by the RAF for aerobatics and air experience flights; aircraft to be used were up to 3 Grob Tutor (light aircraft) of the Univeristy Air Squadron based at St. Athan.
They also confirmed that Mynydd Dinas & Cwmafan were on their 'possible' HG & PG sites, though a phone call to their Air Traffic Control ops desk at St Athan (Tel 01446-798717) would be appreciated prior to any PG activity so that they could inform the University Air Sqn of our presence.

As a direct result of the fatal aircraft accident of 11 Feb 09 over Kenfig Dunes (collision between 2 RAF Grob Tutor trainers) there is currently some restriction as to the procedure for entering an area of airspace extending from the Cardiff Airport ATZ northward to (and slighty beyond) Swansea and upwards to 10,000'. This covers an area of approx two miles inland of the coast ie affecting our Mynydd Dinas and Cwmafan sites. I first saw the information posted on a board at Swansea Airport yesterday. Basicly it is to avoid any collisions between RAF and civil a/c; RAF St Athan use this area as an unofficial training ground for Cadets & AEF (Air Experience Flts.)  The poster was not very clear as to what the restricton entailed re. PGing, so I shall contact RAF St.Athan, the origin of the notice, to find out more info.
Up-dated air charts are due out soon, it'll be interesting to see what it mentions about the area concerned.
