28:7:06.Talybont.A pleasent lofty flight after work lots of gentle lift comming off the forest forward of take off , mostly blue sky 2hrs.

4:8:06 Hay Bluff, again lots of lift way out from the hill ,cloud base 1300ato and not looking to good over the back ether, but always nice to fly this ridge.

5:8:06 Fan G. Met with Chris and Ivor ,cloud base 1400ft lots of cloud cover over the back. Did try to go with Chris once ,got to base but we both thought better of it and flew back to the hill.Three flights accumulating 3hrs10Min's.

7:8:06 Heol Senny. 5:45pm It looked nice for an evening soar, just about to take off after my checks when a paraglider caught my eye quite high up,it was Pearce who had flown from Builth he landed in the laybuy at Cray res while i drifted along to Colbren.

8:8:06 Fan G. Meeting Chris Neal Ivor and Steve.Cloudbase looking too low and winds to strong for Van G,so decided Merthyr would be the place to go .Took off at 1300hrs we were soon into a good thermal. With a gaggle working nicely together drifted 10 - 12k , but then a big mistake for me and some others as we went our own ways ,i went following a route i had success last time this way ,but this time not so lucky landed nr pontypool 23k.Well done to Chris Nick and Neil excellent flying. :-)

15/7/06 & 16/7/06

Pandy E

One of my favorite places to fly and on these particular two days good thermic conditions , later mixed with restitution. Ended 3.5K out from valley at 3500ft. Basically could fly wherever wanted i headed for little humps which worked thank goodness!  it was 30 degrees .On the 15th flew up the valley to cats back accompanied by Humphrey.

Heol Senni

NNE Light winds occasional good thermals. After flying around saw Steve Watkins gaining good height at Fan G bowl. Thoughts were to skip over from Heol Senni to Fan G. While approaching Fan G stayed with gentle lift and drifted over at 2500ft above take off. In blue skies and winds with a little more East drifted along high ground and finally landed in Heol Las Swansea. 33.3K .

28/6/06 - Talybont. SW
30/6/06 - Nantymoel SW
01/07/06 - Airwave challenge - waited several hours for winds to drop
eventually took off in quite strong winds. Went over back in blue skies. Stayed with gentle lift to drift slowly over Brecon to a local hill which I gained a little height, ended up in field at Garthbrengy 300 yards from Steve Parsons.
03/07/06 - Pandy. Winds ENE so headed for Pandy, flew for 1 hour 25 with Steve Watkins from take off to top end of ridge and back about 24K in restitution lift way out in valley. height gained about 1200ft above take off in smooth silky air. :)

Sun 25 June Heol Senny
Sun shining at 5,o clock NE, a phone call from steve watkins , soarable conditions! so off to go .Winds became a constant 12 to 14 mph, had a few short flights  a 20 and 45Min's. Landed about 8,15pm. Sky became quite dark to wards Brecon  so packed wings away , headed home drove through thunder/lightning and poring rain .

June 23 Nant-y-Moel
Thermic conditions a 14mph wind. Chris D and Steave J had allready been flying
so Ivor and I took off . Around 2hrs  later winds dropped but thermals were larger and cloud base rose to 4000asl . At 3910 ato pushed out over the valley to the hills the other side , more thermic activity gave a chance to top up, pushed on down the valley a little then back to take off ,3hrs 10 Min's . Landed in a Heep having tripped over something . :oops:I Must consentrate on landing !

Heol Senny 10:4:06 . Took off in 15mph wind, gained good hight out in front of take off, Ivor and I worked our way to Van G where we eventually landed .Later winds swung NNW but dropped off. Nick and Neal arrived, we all tried to catch the thermic cycles. Nick spots a bird in weak lift and follows, he gains good height then slowly drifted away. Neil & Ivor flew to bottom landing  while i caught the 4:20 thermal to Cwmbran reaching 6200ft just over the back.pushed on speed bar to loose hight to get under merthyr air space. Landed at 6.35pm. Really good flight!!!!   43k : :-D

5/4/06 - Hay Bluff NE

Forecast giving NE changing to NW
Arrived 11am. met with Ivor , Steve W and John Pope. Flew NE side until wind started switching to NNW then eventually NW, then stayed NW. Winds became strong so landed. Shortly after 3 paragliders go overhead from Builth with good height. Took off again late pm and enjoyed the smoother conditions than the morning. Good lofty heights gained.

Talybont Sunday 5/2/06

Light WSW. Looking brighter towards Taylbont region rather than Fan G so Hiked up the large far SW face with webmaster Steve Watkins. Rewarded with 12 - 14mph consistent wind.  Cloudbase just above Penyfan. To start with conditions were smooth with 0 - 3 metres per second lift ,became rougher later so we decided to make way to landing area near car park.
Flying time 1 hour 35minutes.
Surprisingly good flight as weather didn't look too promising! :)

Talybont, South West winds 12 - 15 mph, nice soarable conditions along full length of ridge. Fine clear views to the South but to the North in the lee of the Beacons fog filled valleys made quite a contrast. 15 - 20 pilots kept one very alert!!!
Even so, a good days flying 3 hours 10 minutes. Nice to see several South West Wales pilots.
