Hi all

I went to the Thames Valley club's annual Big Fat Repack yesterday.  I joined Bill Morris and his team of BHPA packers and helped pack chutes from 10:00 to 18:00.  The event was held in a sports hall and they had rigged up a zip wire for simulated deployments .It was a very intense and exhausting day but a  very worthwhile experience as I got to help pack some makes of rescue chute that I had not come across before and there were  also a fair selection of inner bags and harnesses to deal with.   :)

And once again thanks to you, John (and Gerry) for sharing your expertise and making the time to help out other club members. Do worry about your alcohol intake though! Still, you guys are really going to know your Chardonnays from you Rieslings!!

Thanks to everyone for coming to the repacking sessions.  John and myself were delighted with the turnout and the interest and enthusiasm shown by club members.  Over the two sessions, we  managed to inspect and repack over twenty parachutes.  The community hall at Alltwen has proved to be an ideal venue for the event ; it is definitely easier to pack on tables than on the floor!  One or two faults in the deployment mechanisms were discovered and rectified -mostly very minor but one major so the whole event was definitely very worthwhile!  The social aspect was good too : we even made it to the pub for a pint afterwards last night!

Hats off to John for arranging use of the hall, coordinating numbers and laying on refreshments!

Safe flying to all this season
